WCF2: Fix not working User Ranks/“Who is Online” Marking

Many times there is one problem discussed in the support forums: How to fix not working User Ranks/“Who is Online” Marking? Espacially as beginner there are some barriers to configure an own forum correctly. In this case it is very simple, you just have to use the priority. In order to get it working I will declare the system behind the priorities.

The framework checks for every user, which priority the user groups have the user is member of. The software uses the settings of the user ranks and “who is online” marking of exact one user group, which has the highest priority. For example if the user group “Users” has a priority of 2000 and the user group “Administrators” has a priority of 1000 the user ranks and “who is online” marking of the user group “Users” will be used – even for administrators. So you have to pay attention to the priority of all user groups a user is member of. The settings, which should be used, have to set in the user group with the highest priority of all user groups the user is member of.

In order to see the result immediately after changing a user rank, a “who is online” marking or a priority you have to rebuild data in your ACP under System -> Maintenance -> Rebuild Data. Then click on the button “Rebuild Users”.

After that the user ranks/“who is online” marking should be displayed as desired or rather as set.

P.S.: The priority just manages the priority of user ranks, the “who is online” marking and the sorting of the team page. It has no influence to any permissions of user groups.
